Community Guidelines

Standards of conduct outlined in university policies extend to online conduct. Submissions that contravene university policies will be removed, and the user may be banned from posting without notice.

ECU reserves the right to remove posts that may contravene ECU's responsibilities under the Freedom of Information and Protection Privacy Act (FIPPA).

Other reasons for submission removal include:

  • Personal attacks on the author, subject, or person(s)
  • Hateful speech
  • Promotion of drug/alcohol use. (Alcohol use is occasionally permitted at events only with prior written authorization and proof of Serving it Right certificate and a Special Occasion License. More details are available here.)
  • Commercial purposes
  • Extreme tangent from the topic
  • Spam (posting multiple times)

Events

We share events that are hosted by, or affiliated with ECU. Once your event submission has been approved and published, it'll appear on our Events page, be included in an email digest and may be featured on other Communications + Marketing channels.

Community Updates

Units can share news and resources for the ECU community. Once your Community Update has been approved and published, it'll appear on our Community Updates page and on the Community Updates feed on your unit's ecuad.ca homepage, be included in an email digest, and may be featured on other Communications + Marketing channels.

Notices

If you have something to sell or rent, have lost or found something, or have any other short "classified ad" item to share, submit a Notice! Once approved and published, it'll appear on our Notice Board page.
